Helping the Forgotten Kids of Vanuatu

Mention Vanuatu and what do you think of? Crystal clear waters, warm sand, balmy nights and swaying palm trees.

Yes, they are all there in Vanuatu.

But did you know that only 40% of children in Vanuatu are given the opportunity to continue their schooling after the age of 12? And that in primary schools right across this beautiful nation children share pages out of an exercise book and break pencils into 3 just so they can have something to write with?

With childhood experiences of my own visting Vanuatu, and with a child attending a well provisioned school in Australia, I have chosen this charity for Aspire Australia to support.

Over the coming 18 month, Aspire Australia will sponsor Jump Start Outdoor Training’s project to raise money for vital education resources so needed by the children of Vanuatu.

GET INVOLVED. Here is how you can help:

1. The Walk for Opportunity

Join the Jump Start Great Coastal Walk for Opportunity from Barenjoey to Cronulla. The 90km walk has been divided into 8 sections which can easily be completed in three to four hours.

Each walk is relatively easy and takes you along a coastline which represents one of the most beautiful and enviromentally diverse attractions in the world. Why not make it an opportunity to get together with friends and/or family and at the same time know that you are helping to raise money for such a great cause.

Jump Start Outdoor Training will provide you with:

  • Detailed map of the walk
  • Car pooling arrangements if required

Refugees on the Doorstep

Over the past 18months, Aspire Australia has been working with the refugee and humanitarian settlers in Wagga Wagga in regional NSW to provide migration advice and assistance to help families reunite in Australia.

These settlers have arrived from war ravaged and politically unstable countries across Africa and Asia after suffering various forms of political, physical, religious or cultural persecution.

Aspire Australia provides migaration advice and assistance to settlers to help bring husbands and wives, children, siblings and relatives to Australia where possible.

In support of Aspire Australia’s work, Zulu Communications has donated a hand made quilt from the Women & Children’s HIV community in Cambodia to be raffled to raise funds for this work.

This quilt was made by Chef Riem, a 42 year old widow whose husband died of aids right after their child was born. That child is now 8 years old and has HIV. The Women & Children’s HIV Community Centre helped Chev find rented accommodation and put her child in day car and school. Chev is a god quilter and loves her work at the Centre.

Contact Aspire Australia to purchase a ticket and support both causes: 02 9956 6011 or visas@aspireaustralia.com.au

Thank you Zulu Communications for you continuing support.

It is Easy Being Green!

Aspire Australia has always taken an active interest in the enviroment.

On World Enviroment Day in June 2008, we told the world of our commitment to reducing our footprint on the planet!

As part of our social responsibility policy, Aspire Australia wants to play a leading role in showing how small steps can be taken by individuals and businesses; steps which will impact on the global environment.

Key outcomes Aspire Australia aims to achieve are:

  • Reducing energy consumption & Greenhouse Gas emissions
  • Reducing operational waste & ensuring equipment longevity
  • Sourcing and using eco-friendly products
  • Encouraging clients, business partners and suppliers to join us in adopting enviromental friendly practices.

We have already taken the following steps:

  • Obtained an energy audit & identified how we can reduce energy consumption
  • Sourced and replaced some supplies with eco-friendly resources
  • Offsetting carbon emissions from car and air travel for staff

At Aspire Australia, we believe that, as individuals, we can make changes in our own lives, can influence others and therby make change within our community.

Why not contribute to our Enviromental Responsibility Programme?

Think about how you, your family and your business could change or adapt your practices to reduce your footprint on the enviroment and ensure the future will be bright for us all.

Remember to let us know what you are doing and keep up to date with Asprie Australia’s progress on our website!
